I’ve just finished up watching ‘Firefly’. I’ve written about how good the show is/was and here I am again… I’m writing about it.
Folks, the show is/was DAMNTASTIC!
‘Firefly’ is/was a sci-fi western. I know that doesn’t make any sense but if you see the show, it all falls into place.
Unlike ‘Star Trek’, there are no aliens. It takes place five hundred years in the future and humans are expanding out into the vastness of the universe. Small planets and moons are terraformed into places with Earth like atmospheres capable of sustaining human life. These planets are the new frontier and just like in the old west, unsavory characters inhabit these places.
There are horses, cows, and spaceships. There are laser pistols and Colt type of handguns. There are bounty hunters, whores, and preachers. Basically, it’s a PG-13 rated ‘Rawhide’ thrown into a spaceship.
I cannot recommend it enough. I borrowed it from a friend and I’m going out to buy it ASAP.
I was wrong before in a previous entry, ‘Firefly’ is only a 4-disc collection. And that’s the whole series in a nutshell.
Brad K. posted some good news in the comments section, the ‘Firefly’ movie is slated for release on September 30th. Watch the series on DVD and join me for opening day!
Now for something completely different…
I’m sure that what I’m about to write will surely cause ridicule from others. But, I’m willing to take that risk because it’s something that I’ve become quite proud of.
Some call it intuition. And there are others considered “the fringe” that will call it some sort of psychic perception. Either way, I’m gifted and I’m willing to lend myself to the bullies in life for their amusement.
I have a 14-year-old cat named Monroe. She’s named after Ralph Monroe, the lady carpenter on ‘Green Acres’.
From time to time, Monroe gets thirsty and she drinks water just like all good kitties do. Sometimes “Mo”, “Miss Mo”, “Gurrrl”, or “Mo Mo” will ask for water by meowing and she receives it. Other times I notice that she’s out of water and I provide it for her.
Here’s where my gift comes in…. I take a cup or glass and run some water into it. I bend over and pour it into her water dish. Always… ALWAYS! The water that I ran is the exact amount of water needed to fill the dish. I don’t even think about it. It all comes to me very naturally.
For all of you naysayers out there, I don’t use the same cup or glass every time. I’m gifted, pure and simple.
Now if only I could find a way for my gift to help others.
I’m open for ideas as well as ridicule.
